What is going on at Portsmouth?

I have expressed concern about our failure to sign any strikers this summer but it could be worse, we could be selling our entire squad and buying nobody in return, like Pompey. Now I am happy to see any club filling the bottom three positions and have no affiliation with Portsmouth whatsoever, but the unfolding situation down on the south coast looks pretty desperate.

I know 'Arry tends to leave a financial mess in his wake but was the situation really so bad that it necessitated the sale of Defoe, Crouch and Johnson, with others to follow apparently? It is hard to see how Pompey can survive if this continues. And if they drop, they are likely to plummet. How sad that a victory in the FA Cup is likely to be followed by years in the wilderness - or possibly even extinction.

Portsmouth have been on the brink before of course and I predict an extended spell in the lower divisions again.

D'oh. Johnson was always going to go - he just had the decency to sign a new cobtract mid-year to ensure we gota good price. Defoe went cos he got planked by a team mate after feigning injury to avoid being cup tied and Diarra always admitted we were a stepping stone. Crouch will be missed but all the other players we've released have been high earning bench-warmers we could do without. There's still a good core and some good loans/buys coming in (eg Vanden Borre) and whilst I expect a struggle we are not in a downward spiral yet!

i believe that west ham will be relegated by the end of the season with Cole being sold by the end of this transfer window!

I believe that west ham will be relegated by the end of the summer. A friend (very close to club) has said that Cole will be sold to a team aboard (wouldn't say who) after his England performance last night, to generate finance to bring in extra players across the team, as Zola believes he is a luxury that they can no longer afford.

Absolute bollocks

Pompey have sold a few decent players and got rid of a lot of dead wood. The replacements, while not household names, will do a good enough job to keep Pompey in the premier league.

we will see my friend. Unlike you I predict that Pompey will have a better season cos we got rid of all the overpaid ballerinas from our famous club . I would rather be the underdog unlike last season when everyone expected us to finish top 6. We will play ourselves up the leauge and am looking forward to an exciting season. Play Up Pompey

To all Pompey fans, I know that the author of this article has a habit of antagonizing people and there are many West Ham fans including myself that are no fans of him, so you should just direct your insults at him and him alone and not go dissing West Ham. All the same he does have a point though, you have practically lost all of your integral players without replacing them and Array has left you in a financial mess and so you will struggle next term and you are in danger of going down, even your own manager don't fancy your chances much as heard him say on Sky Sports News this very morning. I am not gloating about this, if anything I genuinely fear for your club as there are other clubs that I would personally much rather see take the drop, but never Portsmouth as I, just like the vast majority of West Ham fans have absolutely nothing against your club, but the fact remains that you are seriously in the doo doo and will have to do extremely well to survive. C'mon 16:16 and 16:20, Carlton Cole going to be sold by the end of this transfer window? That is a complete load of horse shit and you know it. Just aim your contempt at the author and not at West Ham, okay?
